By partnering with a private company for water and wastewater treatment, public and private customers can reduce the cost of services.

By partnering with Seven Seas, customers can eliminate upfront capital expenses and ensure efficient operations

Access to clean water and sanitation is considered a basic human right that many of us take for granted. We turn on our taps and clean water flows out, and with a flush, wastewater is magically sent away for treatment. However, treating water and wastewater is expensive. It involves energy, chemicals, and labor costs that are continually rising, putting increasing pressure on municipalities and industries to reduce costs to ensure affordability.

Seven Seas Water Group, a leader in innovative water solutions, offers a cost-effective and sustainable way to overcome this challenge. With a combination of efficient technologies and financing that requires no upfront capital investment, Seven Seas’ Water-as-a-Service® (WaaS®) gives municipalities and industries access to advanced treatment technologies and operational efficiencies at a regular monthly cost that’s predictable.

Optimizing Treatment Processes

One key aspect of reducing operational costs is the optimization of treatment processes. Seven Seas employs several advanced technologies that improve efficiency and reduce costs, including membrane filtration, biological nutrient removal, and advanced oxidation processes.

By integrating these advanced treatment solutions, Seven Seas optimizes operational efficiency, resulting in improved water quality, lower costs, and reduced environmental impact. Operational efficiency is further enhanced through the implementation of smart technologies including:

  • Automated monitoring and control systems: Real-time data analytics optimizes chemical dosing, energy use, and treatment performance.
  • Predictive maintenance: Proactive equipment monitoring and maintenance reduces downtime, extends the lifespan of equipment, and minimizes emergency repair costs.
  • Process optimization: Process optimization helps streamline operations, enhancing efficiency, reducing waste, and improving overall cost-effectiveness.

The Water-as-a Service® Advantage

These optimized treatment processes are made accessible to municipalities and industries through Seven Seas’ innovative Water-as-a-Service® model, which offers several distinct advantages.

Seven Seas’ WaaS® model handles all aspects of water and wastewater treatment, from building and operating facilities to delivering treated water.

Because no upfront capital investment is required, customers can access state-of-the-art treatment without incurring hefty infrastructure costs. This reduces financial burdens and frees up capital for other priorities. The cost of managing the plant is factored into the cost of the service or product, enabling better budget planning and cost control without any surprise expenses.

Customers also benefit from the economy of scale as Seven Seas leverages its expertise and purchasing power to lower costs. Customers also avoid operational risk because Seven Seas assumes complete responsibility for system performance and regulatory compliance.

With years of experience in water and wastewater management, Seven Seas has successfully implemented WaaS® solutions worldwide. Our ability to design, build, operate, and maintain reliable treatment systems ensures customers receive high-quality, yet affordable services — it’s reflected in our high rate of contract renewal.

Reducing Operational Costs in Alice, Texas

Alice Brackish Water Desalination Plant

Alice, Texas, solved its water scarcity by partnering with Seven Seas for a 3-million-gallon desalination plant.

The effectiveness of the WaaS® model can be seen in the case of Alice, Texas. The city of Alice needed an independent water supply for its 20,000 residents to build resilience to drought and water scarcity. It opted for a public-private partnership with Seven Seas, which is providing a brackish water desalination solution via a WaaS® agreement. The city will soon be able to treat brackish well water to produce 2.7 million gallons of raw fresh water per day. Seven Seas proved that their partnership, utilizing private and SRF financing, would result in lower water supply costs for the city’s desalination plant. Alice City Manager Michael Esparza said:

“The Seven Seas Water Group WaaS® approach offers an all-inclusive service package with no upfront capital investment, removing the unnecessary burden on taxpayers. We are pleased with the final contract and the price and solution offered by Seven Seas Water Group to provide clean water for our community.”

Sustainability and Long-Term Value

The success in Alice demonstrates that WaaS® delivers more than just cost savings; it fosters both environmental and financial sustainability. By leveraging energy-efficient technologies like membrane filtration and biological nutrient removal, WaaS® minimizes energy and chemical consumption, reducing environmental impact and carbon footprints.

From a financial perspective, WaaS® eliminates the burden of large capital investments and provides predictable operating costs. With fixed pricing, Seven Seas is incentivized to optimize efficiency and minimize waste, directly benefiting the customer. By transferring operational risks to Seven Seas, municipalities and industries gain financial security and can focus on their core objectives. WaaS® offers a future-proof model that balances economic viability with ecological responsibility.
