Se est\u00e1n preparando oportunidades de financiaci\u00f3n para acompa\u00f1ar la nueva norma. La EPA estima que la norma proteger\u00e1 a 100 millones de personas de la exposici\u00f3n a PFAS, salvar\u00e1 miles de vidas y prevendr\u00e1 decenas de miles de enfermedades graves.<\/p>\n<p>El NPDWR establece niveles m\u00e1ximos de contaminantes (MCL, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) legalmente exigibles en el agua potable para seis sustancias qu\u00edmicas: PFOA, PFOS, PFHxS, PFNA y HFPO-DA como contaminantes con MCL individuales, junto con PFAS que consisten en dos o m\u00e1s PFHxS, PFNA, HFPO-DA y PFBS. La Agencia de Protecci\u00f3n Ambiental (EPA, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) tambi\u00e9n ha establecido metas de niveles m\u00e1ximos de contaminantes para PFAS no aplicables y basadas en la salud.<\/p>\n<p>Para la regla de la EPA, la Ley de Infraestructura Bipartidista proporciona $1 mil millones para ayudar a los estados y territorios en las pruebas y el tratamiento a medida que los sistemas p\u00fablicos de agua trabajan para cumplir con el nuevo est\u00e1ndar, y los propietarios de pozos intentan abordar la contaminaci\u00f3n por PFAS.<\/p>\n<p>Los sistemas p\u00fablicos de agua deben monitorear el agua potable en busca de las seis sustancias qu\u00edmicas PFAS y finalizar el monitoreo inicial para 2027. El monitoreo del cumplimiento debe continuar despu\u00e9s de esa fecha y el p\u00fablico debe ser informado sobre los niveles de PFAS en su agua potable. Los sistemas p\u00fablicos de agua tendr\u00e1n hasta 2029 para instalar soluciones para los niveles de PFAS por encima de los MCL. A partir de 2029, los sistemas p\u00fablicos de agua con problemas de PFAS deben reducir los niveles en su agua potable y notificar al p\u00fablico sobre cualquier infracci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>La investigaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo de tecnolog\u00edas de tratamiento de PFAS est\u00e1n en curso, y es probable que se produzcan muchos avances. La regeneraci\u00f3n de medios reduce los costes de eliminaci\u00f3n y a\u00f1ade resiliencia en caso de escasez. Los requisitos hidr\u00e1ulicos para la filtraci\u00f3n de carb\u00f3n son menores que para la \u00f3smosis inversa o el intercambio i\u00f3nico. Sin embargo, el costo de capital es m\u00e1s alto que el del intercambio i\u00f3nico.<\/p>\n<p>En el intercambio i\u00f3nico, el agua contaminada pasa a trav\u00e9s de peque\u00f1as perlas de resina. Los iones adheridos a la superficie de las perlas se intercambian con iones PFAS, elimin\u00e1ndolos del agua. Esta tecnolog\u00eda requiere un tama\u00f1o m\u00e1s peque\u00f1o que el GAC debido a las tasas de carga m\u00e1s altas y los tiempos de contacto m\u00e1s cortos con la base. Muchos tipos de resina han sido dise\u00f1ados espec\u00edficamente para la eliminaci\u00f3n de PFAS.
